Frequently asked questions
Clear information to help you understand our services, booking process, and platform standards before you begin.
How do I choose between Individual, Couple, and Family pathways?
Each pathway is tailored to a specific relational scope. If you are seeking personal psychotherapy or self-reflection, choose Individual. If you and your spouse or partner wish to address shared relationship dynamics, select Couple. For generational or household challenges involving multiple family members, choose Family. You can also explore our Academy for self-paced educational learning.
Can I book an appointment from any province or country?
Accessing our website is open globally, but clinical psychotherapy appointments depend on the clinician's regulatory license and your physical location at the time of the session. During intake, your location is verified to ensure compliance with provincial and national health regulations.
Will my partner or family member see my intake notes or messages?
No. In accordance with our independent privacy architecture, each adult participant maintains their own individual account. Shared couple or family appointments do not grant access to another participant's private notes, reflections, or direct communications with the clinician.
How does the NAFS & RUH Academy differ from therapy?
Academy courses are digital educational offerings designed for personal enrichment, professional development, and philosophical study. They do not constitute clinical psychotherapy, psychiatric diagnosis, or medical treatment, and no healthcare provider-patient relationship is established through Academy enrollment.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Appointments may be rescheduled or cancelled with at least 24 hours advance notice without incurring cancellation fees. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice are subject to our standard late-cancellation terms as outlined in our service agreement.
Is NAFS & RUH equipped to handle acute mental health crises?
No. NAFS & RUH is an outpatient elective service and is not equipped for acute crisis intervention. If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicide, or an immediate emergency, please contact your local emergency services (e.g., 911 or 988 in Canada/USA) immediately.
